VPN crackdown leads to massive fines for internet providers

Tekstgrootte

The supervisory authority has fined 85 internet providers for failing to submit information regarding user IP addresses. Companies are required to report any updates within 24 hours, and just one hour is given in emergency situations.

While the official reason for gathering this data is to counter cyberattacks, specialists link the measure to identifying and subsequently restricting censorship circumvention services. Failure to comply with the established rules can result in fines of up to one million rubles for the operators.

The new requirements force providers to purchase expensive software and hire additional staff, as IP addresses for millions of subscribers change automatically several times a day. These unexpected corporate expenses could eventually trigger an increase in internet service costs for end consumers.

With HiroVPN, users are protected from such restrictions and blocks, maintaining stable access to the internet.
