From October 27 to 29, mobile internet speed reductions are planned in Moscow within the Third Transport Ring area. Restrictions will take effect from 11:30 on the first two days and from 9:30 on the third day. During the slowdown, users will only have access to whitelisted resources, while voice calls, home internet, and Wi-Fi will continue operating as normal.
Reasons for introducing temporary restrictions
This measure is being implemented for security purposes during the eighth summit of heads of state and government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, as well as the third Russia-Africa summit.
Previous network issues in regions
Similar connectivity difficulties have been recorded previously. Specifically, on September 25 during the 12th St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, residents experienced disruptions in online services and messaging apps, with around 1.9 thousand complaints received in 24 hours. Additionally, on October 17 in the same region, technical issues and DDoS attacks caused service interruptions for ISPs eTelecom, PAKT, and SkyNet, resulting in 3.9 thousand user reports.
